Beninbrough Hall is a Georgian mansion owned by the National Trust and has a beautiful walled garden containing some really nice plants and flowers. It also has a great vegetable garden which supplies fruit and vegetables for the Hall restaurant. The grounds have a large lawned area which is ideal for picnics and a play area which is great for the kids. The house exhibits many really good old paintings on loan from the National Portait Gallery. The house also has a large, fully equipped, Victorian Laundry which gives a good insight into the work that was required by the servants in those days. The house can be found just north of York and can be reached from the A19 or the A59. Although the house is interesting the gardens and picnic areras are the main attraction and definately worth a visit.
My top tips:  In good weather the Lawned and Garden areas are great (especially the fruit and veg garden)
