I recently subscribed to this magazine, shortly after my 3 year old son was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition. The magazine is called LIME (standing for 'look into my eyes' and is specifically for families with special needs children. It's a brand new magazine, started by a mum who felt there was a gap in the market for a magazine written by families for families. There have been 2 editions so far (the magazine comes out every 2 months) and has a wide range of contributors from medical specialists to families and parents themselves. After reading the first edition, I knew that my money was well spent on a subscription, because it gave you the sense that you didn't need to hide away or feel embarrassed if your child had a special or additional need. What it gave me was the feeling that I wasn't alone in dealing with the frustrations and issues. Lots of other people are going through it too. As the magazine is new, it's still finding its feet, but it has a wide range of features including competitions, reviews and top tips
.
My top tips:
Visit the L.I.M.E Magazine facebook page to join the community but most of all subscribe to the magazine, its really reasonably priced.
