This is a huge garden that was once owned by the Tremayne family in Cornwall. It once covered 1000 acres and was developed by the family between 1770 and 1914. It had been totally neglected for decades since 1914 and was overgrown with lots of it hidden by overgrown plants and trees. It was re-discovered in 1990 and has since been restored to its original state. There are all sorts of gardens to examine and great places to enjoy a leisurely walk. There are many gardens ranging from fruit and vegetables, flower gardens to a sub tropical jungle. It takes a full day to see it all (one day may not be enough) and it is very impressive. The huge vegetable and fruit gardens certainly impressed me. The jungle garden consists of raised boardwalks snaking across ponds and surrounded by tropical plants, banana plantations, avenues of huge palms and tunnels of huge bamboo. There is an animal/bird hide where you can watch and photograph birds and animals feeding. There is a cafe/restaurant selling food using ingredients from the gardens which is very nice. There is a shop selling garden related items as well as seeds produced in the gardens. All in all it was an enjoyable day out. Charges: Adults £10.00 Seniors £9.00 Children £6.00 Children under 5 are free Family Ticket £27.00
My top tips:
