Not strictly a day out for free unless you are an National Trust member as parking can mount up to £8 per day, however if you are in the Swanage area these beaches are the best to visit. Nice sand, shallow waters and stunning colours. The area around remains fairly unspoilt from the usual seaside trimmings. Worth a day out with children and for walking.
My top tips:
Excellent shallow water and very small waves...Good for young children
