There are a number of these throughout the country but the one in York is particularly fun. My husband and I have been a few times and everytime he loves to scare me - this is not hard due to the darkness of the museum and exhibits. The whole place is designed to keep you on your toes with things crashing around you and water thrown at you - anything to make you jump. The torture chambers are particularly gruesome and as this is real history it makes you wonder what a world people had to live in.
My top tips:
The Dick Turpin story is particularly fun as you are taken into a dark room - you will be guaranteed a few screams from visitors before you leave - I know I certainly did!
