Butlins Minehead is a great holiday resort for both young and old with lots to do whatever your age. I have just returned from a week there with my 9yr old daughter and my Mam and  we visit Minehead at least once a year. Most activities are included in the price although there are a few extras to pay for, we hardly ever feel the need to pay extra . For older children there is the chance to do Archery or Fencing / Football free of charge - booking is necessary on the morning of the activity at the leisure hub. The resort is immaculately clean and tidy, very bright and cheerful and has all new landscaping and decoration for 2010. the accommodation is excellent, we stay in the deluxe bungalows which are well furnished and are available as half board or room only,  there is a fridge and kettle but no kitchen, also a patio area with table and chairs. Having been every year for the last 9 yrs I can still say there are things we have not done as there is just so much, you can arrange through the booking shop to do off resort activities these include Exmoor horse riding, Exmoor safaris. The town of Minehead is a 10min walk or the Butlins road train takes you on a return journey for small charge. Every member of staff I have come across is more than helpful and polite and would go well above their duties to help with any problem or query. The entertainment is excellent for both children and adults with a good mix for both, various childrens shows with a group of characters called the skyline gang my daughter loves their shows. The touring cast do 2 nights a week at each resort with 2 shows which are excellent as good or better as some west end performers! The King meets Queen and Sound of the Underground shows are not to be missed. The pantos are as good as any you would pay to see in a theatre. Whatever the weather there is always plenty to do . And you can easily stay on resort and spend very little money other than drinks if you take the half board option.
My top tips:  Always take drinks such as bottled water and fruit shoots with us or buy at the local supermarket as they can be rather expensive on site. Plan your week with the infunmation guide otherwise you will find you miss out on some shows as there may be two/three shows in different venues at same time. I always find people queue really early if there are x factor/britains got talent performance on with the cast shows following we tend to wait to go into the venue after these if we have already seen many people leave afterwards and you can easily find a seat near the front for the cast shows. If you plan on returning to any Butlins resort book on site at the holiday booking shop as they have better offers and will price match if the same holiday and accomodation drops in price on just 2 holidays this year I have saved well over £600 by booking onsite.
