A bit more info/ideas to support what's already on, if it's helpful: - Closed on Mondays - Good wheelchair access and friendly staff willing to help you out - Watch the little ones carefully on the road...
My top tips: Look out for the Turtle Xylophone in the Labyrinth (enter at Nelly's Moss to find it). Make some crazy music by whacking a big stick on the turtle's back! - Play mad pooh sticks down the water chute. Grab a small stick or leaf 'boat' each, throw it in, and race the 'boats' to the end. See who's goes fastest! - Look out for lots of different amazing and weird mushrooms in autumn. But don't eat any! - Pretend to be Victorian ladies and gentlemen, walking from the house, over the iron bridge to chapel. Imagine what it must have been like to do all that in a corset! - See how many different shells you can count on display in the house - and look out for the hidden objects! Sometimes you can spot modern objects amongst the olden ones (if the game's on that day). - Visit the kitchen and look at all the weird and wonderful jelly moulds. Imagine what you might be able to cook with what's hanging up in the larder. - Try and spot all of the crazy inventions in the house - like the chair that turns into a ladder, and the table that grows like a flower!

A fabulous National Trust property set in a vast amount of land. Both gorgeous woodland and lakeside settings for a picnic. A plethera of walking/hiking opportunities. A labyrinth with things to spot and find on the way through. An adventure playground .Gorgeous rhodedendrum which are just starting to come into bloom (beginning of June)
My top tips:   Take a picnic. Park in the crozier car park for the adventure playground. The ground on the labyrinth walk is quite bumpy, tis possible to get through with a buggy though.

Cragside consists of a large Victorian House and its huge estate. It could take several visits to see and experience all the parts of it. The house and estate were owned by Lord Armstrong the Victorian entrepreneur. He was an inventor and industrialist owning a large engineering company in Newcastle making armaments and ships for many countries around the world. The estate and house is huge and can be divided into 3 main parts, there is the House itself, the formal gardens and wooded lakes. The house itself is crammed with gadgets and inventions by Lord Armstrong – his house was the first in the world lit by hydroelectricity. The terraced gardens have something to offer throughout the year for anyone who likes plants and gardens. Surrounding the house is one of Europe’s largest rock gardens and there are miles and miles of paths through the woods and lakes (take walking shoes if you are planning on exploring). There are quite a few car parks distributed around the estate so you can drive if you don’t want to walk. There are also several childrens play areas in the estate. The estate is famous for its display of rhododendrons which is supposed to be a mass of colour in and around May (I have never been when these are out so can only go on what other people have reported). House and estate belong to the National Trust and it costs the following if you are not a member (it is free to members): House and Estate Adult £12.00 Children £6.00 Family £30.00 Grounds only Adult £7.70 Children £3.15 Family £8.60 It is a great place to visit and you can easily spend the full day there.
My top tips: Take walking shoes if you are planning to explore the grounds
