This is a well known attraction which is best known for the huge "biome" domes containing different plants and weather conditions from around the world. The Eden project is located in a huge old china clay quarry near St. Austell in Cornwall. It is hard to believe that only a very few years ago this was a disused quarry because now it is covered with gardens and plants covering the whole of the quarry. The first Biome we visited was the Mediterranean one which contains plants and flowers from the various mediterranean type regions of the world (South Africa, California etc). As well as the plants and trees there are explainations about them and growing tips, extinction problems etc. The climate in the biodomes is regulated to be the same as it would be in the original countries of the plants. The second biome is the Rainforest with the high temperature and humidity associated with these regions. It is hard to believe that you are indoors as you climb steep paths surrounded on all sides by plants and trees with a huge waterfall at the top. Outside of the biomes are gardens and plants of all types covering all the quarry. There are gardens and plants of all types set out across the quarry. Flowers, vegetables, plants and trees of all types cover the valley. There are plenty of places to sit down or have a snack or a meal. There are play areas for children and there is a bus which can take you around the site if you dont feel like walking. In all it is a great day out, it will probably take you a full day to get around the site. Charges : Adults £17.50 (£16.50 if you pre purchase on line) Seniors £12.50 (£11.50 online) Children £6.00 (£5.00 online) Students £10.00 (£9.00 online)
My top tips:
Look for special offers for a cheaper entrance fee. You get £1 per person reduction if you purchase tickets online
