Urquhart Castle is a ruined castle on the edges of Loch Ness near Inverness. The way it sticks out on a peninsula makes it look mysterious as you approach it by road or river. We took a cruise on Loch Ness that included a visit to the Castle to enjoy for an hour or so before traveling back on the boat.
My top tips:
Make sure you sit and watch the film about the history of the castle inside the visitor centre. It is only short (about 15 mins) but gives you about 1,000 years of history in an interesting and succinct fashion.
