Wicksteed Park is a family friendly park which combines theme park type rides and attractions with an enormous play park (Wicksteed are the manufacturers of those fantastic big playground slides, swings and climbing frames). The rides and attractions are very good for smaller children too; there are, for example, dodgems, a megaslide, a monorail, mini racing cars (good for dads too) and a very ancient and fun watershute. You can either buy tokens to trade in for rides, or you can buy a day pass (this is probably the best option). Wicksteed Park is a little bit like stepping back in time to the 50s - don't expect Alton Towers!! A unique and fun day out.

My top tips: Take a picnic - lots of big grassy areas and a lake to sit by.
